I am friends with K.R. McClure, but that in no way influences my view of this novelette. When I had heard that she pulled a book out of her imagination, put into print and released it to the world, I knew I had to read it. Hell, even my 17-yr-old son had to read it too. This is such a unique and creative look at the world beyond the veil. Edge Walker locates items from the supernatural realm. He’s hired to find and bring in the orb of death. The best part of this book is his side kick, a chupacabra named Ommers.
Ms. McClure does a fabulous job of creating a world we cannot see. She’s great with character development and keeping the story interesting.
The only negative that I can say about this book is that it’s too short. I definitely would love to see it expanded into a series. I can see Edge and Oms going on a long many different, chaotic, strange, scary adventures.
It’s like Indiana Jones for the Preternatural World.

Edge Walker and the Orb of Death edition by KR McClure Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Very fun adventure. Keeping this author on my list for the next books!
First, a caveat I've been friends with the author for years. But I've never read any of her fiction before, and to say I was pleasantly surprised by "Edge Walker" would be a huge understatement. McClure is a real wordsmith, with a vivid and colorful style and a wicked sense of humor. My one complaint? Too damn short!
a very interesting short story. the characters and story premise hold good promise of future tales.
I loved it! The way everything was described, it felt like I was there, seeing the action happen in that moment.
I enjoyed this first story in what I hope will be a new series of Urban Fantasy stories.
I found it entertaining and surprising.
Where's the next new story?
The novella, in my opinion, is one of the harder forms to master. Not short enough to be a shaggy dog short story, and not long enough to allow for leisurely character development and growth, it requires a light touch, and an interesting trajectory to keep the attention of the readers.
Yes, Kate's a friend of mine, too. And she's never shared any of her writing with me before. So I was quite enchanted on reading about Edge Walker, the protagonist, and the subtle play on one of my less favorite memes. Kate, whom I know for excellence in a number of different areas, has just added a big fat gold start beside her name on my list of "authors to read."
Given it's short nature, all I can say is that there is magic, and darkness, and morals, and immorals... crammed together in a nice little dark, explosive package.
